VirtualDJ Setup
Download and install VirtualDJ from https://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html (in case you have not done already)
Once VirtualDJ is launched, a Connect Window will appear to choose one of the available ways to login.
A Pro Infinity, a Pro Subscription, a Home Plus License or a Limited Edition keycode is required to use the Next Beat. Without any of the above the controller will operate for 10 minutes each time you restart VirtualDJ.

A detection window will appear next verifying the proper connection.
Click on the The Next Beat button to allow VirtualDJ to auto-create the pre-defined audio configuration. Speakers need to be connected to the rear panel of the device.
Click on "Computer" button if you don't have speakers to connect and need to output sound from your computer's built on sound card.
Click to OK
The unit is now
ready to operate.
MIDI Operation.
The unit should be visible in the MAPPING tab of Config and the “
factory default” available/selected from the Mappings drop-down list. The factory default Mapping offers the functions described in this Manual, however those can be adjusted to your needs via VDJ Script actions.

The unit has a pre-defined Audio configuration and a special button in the AUDIO tab of Config to provide that. The default audio configuration requires speakers to be connected at the rear panel
Master RCA sockets and headphones at the front panel 1/4" or 1/8" socket.

LAYOUT
The functionality of each button, knob and connection per section (as shown in the image above) will be explained in detail in the next chapters

MIXER & BROWSER CONTROLS
1 CROSSFADER. Blends audio between the channels assigned to the left and right side of the crossfader.
2 VOLUME. Volume Faders for Left/Right Mixer channel
3 VU METER Indicate the output level of the Master Output.
4 CUE/PFL. Use these buttons to send Left/Right channel's pre-fader signal to the Cue Channel for monitoring. When engaged, the buttons will be lit.
5 FILTER Apply the selected Color FX (High-Low Pass Filter by default) to the left/Right Mixer channel. The selection of the Color FX is offered from the VirtualDJ main GUI.
6 EQ LOW/MID/HIGH. 3-Band Equalizer knob to adjust the low (bass) / middle (mid) / high (treble) frequencies of the Left/Right mixer channel.
7 GAIN. Adjusts the pre-fader audio level (gain) of the Left/Right Mixer channel.
8 BROWSE : Scrolls through Files and Folders in the focused Browser list.
Push the encoder to toggle focus between Songs and Sideview of Browser
Hold
SHIFT down and then
push the encoder to set focus to the Folders list. If focus is on Folders, collapse/expand sub-folders.
9 LOAD :
Loads the selected track from Browser to the Left/Right Deck.
Double-fast-press this button to
clone the Track (and its position, tempo, playing status) from the other Deck to the called one.
Hold
SHIFT down to
unload the Deck
10 MASTER VOL : Adjust the volume of the Master Output (connection at the rear panel)
11 CUE MIX Use this knob to blend Master Output signal with the Channels that have the CUE/PFL buttons enabled. When the knob is at the minimum position, only audio coming from the channels that have CUE/PFL enabled will be sent to Headphones. When in maximum position only audio signal from Master Output will be sent to the Headphones channel.
12 CUE GAIN : Adjust the pre-fader audio level (Gain) of the Headphones output. The Volume control and the connection socket of the Headphones are at the front panel. Prefer to have the Headphones Gain knob at a low position to avoid distortion in Headphones output.
DECK CONTROLS
SSHIFT: Press and hold this button to access secondary functions of other controls on the TheNextBeat
13 PLAY. Plays / Pauses the track. Hold
SHIFT down and then press this button to "stutter-play" the track from the last set Cue Point.
14 CUE. When the Deck is paused, you can set a
temporary Cue Point by moving the Platter to place the Audio Pointer at the desired location and then pressing the Cue Button.
During playback, you can press the Cue Button to return the track to this Cue Point. (If you did not set a Cue Point, then it will return to the beginning of the track.).
If the Deck is paused, you can press and hold the Cue Button to play the track from the Temporary Cue Point. Releasing the Cue Button will return the track to the temporary Cue Point and pause it.
To continue playback without returning to the Temporary Cue Point, press and hold the Cue Button, then press and hold the Play Button, and then release both buttons.
Press and hold
SHIFT and then press this button to return to the
beginning of the track.
15 SYNC. Press this button to automatically match the corresponding Deck's tempo and phase with the opposite Deck's (or the Master Deck’s if using a 4 decks Skin) tempo and phase.
Hold
SHIFT down and then use this button to smoothly
reset Tempo to its original value.
16 TRACK SEARCH. Use the Left button to jump to the beginning of the track. Double-press the same button to load the previous track from the Browser List.
Use the Right button to load the next track from the Browser List.
17 KEYLOCK : Press this button to "lock" the track's key to its original value regardless the Tempo.
Hold
SHIFT down to match deck's key with the key value of the opposite deck. Repeat the key combination to reset the key of the track to it's original value
18 PITCH : Adjust the track's playback speed (tempo).
19 WHEEL : Press this button to set the Jogwheel to
Vinyl (Scratch) or
CD (Bend) mode. In Vinyl mode, use the outer part of the Jogwheel to bend (temporary speed up – slow down the tempo of the track).
20 JOG. Touch sensitive jogwheel. Use the jogwheel to scratch (if Vinyl mode is selected) or pitch bend.
Hold
SHIFT and then use the Jogwheel to fast
search through the track.
The Jog's Ring leds are controlled by the hardware.
PERFORMANCE PADS
21 PAD MODES. Use these buttons to select one of the 4 available modes for the Pads -
Hotcues,
Loop,
Manual Loop and
Sampler.
Each time a mode is selected, a
Page will be selected and displayed on the
Pads section of the default VirtualDJ skin
22 PADS 8 RGB colored buttons, performing functions depending on the selected Pad mode.
Notes- Due to firmware limitations, Split Pad pages is not supported.

EFFECTS CONTROLS
23 FX1 : Enable/disable the selected Effect of
FX Slot 1. Hold
SHIFT down and then use this button to
select the next available Effect for FX slot 1
24 FX2 : Enable/disable the selected Effect of
FX Slot 2. Hold
SHIFT down and then use this button to
select the next available Effect for FX Slot 2
25 FX3 : Enable/disable the selected Effect of
FX Slot 3. Hold
SHIFT down and then use this button to
select the next available Effect for FX Slot 3
26 FX LEVEL : Adjust the
1st Parameter (usually Wet/Dry) of all 3 FX Slots at the same time.
27 FX PARAM: Adjust the
2nd Parameter (usually Wet/Dry) of all 3 FX Slots at the same time.
FRONT & REAR PANELS
Rear panel 28 USB : Set this switcher to USB position to use this device with VirtualDJ.
29 MIC IN : Connect a microphone to this socket, using a 1/4" cable. The audio signals of this input is routed directly to the Program Mix and Cue Mix.
30 MIC LEVEL : Adjust the level of the Microphone Input signal.
31 MASTER OUTPUT : Use standard RCA cables to connect this output to a speaker or amplifier system. The level of this output is controlled by the Master Level knob on the top panel.
31 MASTER INPUT : The audio signal of this input is routed to the Master Output of the device. Not used when using Computer mode and VirtualDJ
33 CUE INPUT : The audio signal of this input is routed to the Headphones Output of the device. Not used when using Computer mode and VirtualDJ
34 USB HOST : Use the provided USB type B to type A cable to connect the unit with a USB port of a computer. This USB connection sends and receives audio and control information from a connected computer.
Front panel 35 PHONES LEVEL : Adjust the volume of the Headphones output. This knob is not sending any MIDI message to the computer, so the adjustments will not affect the Headphones Volume knob on VirtualDJ GUI
36 PHONES SOCKET : Connect a pair of Headphones for pre-listening, using the 1/8" or 1/4" sockets.
